What is Love?

This is our second to last Saturday in the first house we bought.  We’ve lived here a little over 10 years now, and have seen many changes. We moved here with C1 when he was about 2 1/2 and now we have an even half dozen of Blessings from above!!!  Next Saturday begins packing of  PODS  for our move.  So, this is our last big breakfast on a Saturday here.  The countdown begins!!!  A little bittersweet but praising God for His provisions.  Here is a poem by Nancy Campbell  from Above Rubies.  (One of  my favorite ministries)  This refers more to a parent/child relationship but one of the things I love Nancy talks about is that women are made to “mother”.  That does not always mean mother of a child/children. We are made to “mother” and nurture those around us. So, regardless if you have children or not, you can still read and think of any relationship this would benefit.  As for me, I am a fickle, sinful person and need to be reminded of this OFTEN.  Happy Saturday to you!!!

What is Love?
Adapted from 1 Cor. 13

(an added note here, when dealing with “stinky thinking” and struggling in relationships, 1 Cor. 13 is one I run to read)

If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place,
but I have not love; I am a housekeeper- not a homemaker.

If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements,
but have not love; my children learn of cleanliness – not Godliness.

Love leaves the dust in search of a child’s laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love is present through trials.
Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive.
Love crawls with baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the child,
then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.
Love is the key that opens salvation’s message to a child’s heart.

Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection.
Now I glory in God’s perfection in my child.

As a mother there is much I must teach my child, but the greatest of all is love.
