Playdough-Made in China?

So I went to buy play dough for the kids the other day. Yes, I was being lazy as I have a great recipe for it. Bought it, took it home, started to open it and read it is MADE IN CHINA! So much these days are, but we try to support Made in USA whenever we can. I will no longer be buying Play dough. My favorite recipe follows. Guess I’m going to have to start checking markers and crayons too?

PLAY DOUGH

3 cups water
1 1/2 cups salt
3 cups flour
2 T veg oil
1 T cream of tartar

Combine together in pan, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Will start to pull away from sides of pan and get very thick. Let cool slightly and work in food color if desired. Store in air tight container.

On a side note. Greatest Grandpa Geehring was visiting one time and C1 and M were playing with play dough. He said, “This smells like something we used to clean our walls with when I was younger.” Do you know the history of play dough ( and yes it was invented in America)

  1. Ha…that's funny! You should win an award…no one else mentioned it. Oh, maybe no one else is reading my blogs 😉
